FTC started operating in 2005 and became a registered charity in July 2007 Founder: Free the Child was founded by Mrs Elizabeth Williams Who we are Free the Child was set up to support children and young people who have been traumatised through abuse as well as those with problems such as bereavement, domestic violence, and trauma and bullying. Our mission therefore is to strive for the best opportunities for these children, we aim to do this by: Making a difference in their lives by providing them with necessary counselling support in a safe environment to help them with their emotional problems. Listening to them and make them feel wanted, help them grow into respectable adults. Providing creative activities suitable for their abilities Working with various agencies and making the right contacts on their behalf for the services they might require Supporting them to regain their self-esteem and to have a feeling of belonging and happiness in the community Helping to reduce anti-social behaviour, through education and provision of creative activities In summary, our goal is to listen, care, counsel, have a dialogue and above all, to show and share love with abused, traumatised, bereaved, depressed and frustrated children and young people in our society. What we do We want to get children into different aspects, help them to find their strengths and utilise this in their work by encouraging them to partake in various activities including cooking classes, game workshops, dancing, singing, acting, exercises, media arts, fashion and textiles, art and sports and athletics |
